How to do online transaction on the Internet? Safety tips.
To avoid online transaction frauds, RBI has suggested more safer guidelines for online transactions. According to RBI, both credit and debit card holders have to validate their identity during an online transaction.
* There are many ways through which identity validation can be done. One way is to send a transaction code as SMS to user’s mobile on each transaction, by which the transaction can be completed. Other way is to provide users a code generator device.
* Many banks like SBI, ICICI, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Citibank sends one time code on mobile by SMS for authenticating the transaction. HDFC uses a image and text to validate the user which has to be configured at time of net banking registeration, whereras HSBC provides a digital code generator which has to be used for any transaction online. Therefore it is very difficult for a hacker to have access of everything including username, password, mobile phone or code generator.
* The most of banks do validation one time only at the time of activating third party beneficiaries. Future transaction with activated third party accounts are not authenticated by this.
* If you are using a credit card for the transaction, MasterCard (called MasterCard SecureCode) and Visa card (called Verified by Visa) use password for authenticating online transactions. Some credit cards have a feature of limiting the amount maximum of which a transaction can be used on Internet.
